It was designed to study on depression, anxiety, psychological state, quality of life and sociodemographic characteristics of homeless in the shelter in Pusan. 152 homeless were investigated through SAS, SDS, SCL-90 R and KvSBQOL and the results were as follows£º1) The homeless was almostly in the age of 30s and 40s(average age of 42.3), and most of them possessed a academic career of lower than senior high school graduates, and had a family to support. The reasons of unemployment were individual dishonor or dissolution of company(42.9%), resignation(17.0%) and acceptability on the loss of job was 50.3%. 2) In comparison with control group, homeless group was more anxious and depressive state, kept significantly higher scores in all subscales of SCL-90-R, and felt significantly lower quality of life. 3) In homeless group, the period of job loss did not affect either the score of SAS, SDS, SCL 90-R or the score of Korean version SBQOL. These results suggest that psychiatric attention should be payed to the homeless for correction of their psychological difficulties, and that more systematized social support system is necessary to help the homeless.
